“Action is the antidote to despair.”
— Joan Baez
Hey folks and friends,
After the election in 2016, one of the first things I did was organize a benefit concert at the old Sidewalk Cafe in NYC to raise funds for organizations that could help people. It felt, well maybe not good per se, but useful for me to get out and do something to help others rather than sink into despair.
As it just so happens, I had already signed on to help with another benefit event this year before the election even happened. It's being organized by my friend Tina Lea (@tinaleaartistry) to help out folks in Asheville who are still trying to get back on their feet after the hurricane. There's gonna be a raffle, a silent auction, and live music from me and others, with proceeds going to help out hair stylists from Asheville who have lost their work and businesses.
When: Nov. 10, 11am-3pm
Where: The Warren Salon - 253 E. Broad St., Bethlehem PA, 18018
I'm glad to have the chance to do a little bit of good in the wake of Tuesday's election. I hope you find a way to help some people too, even if you can't make it out to the event tomorrow.
Much love,
Sarah
P.S.
Here's a picture of my cat for anyone who read all the way to the end. Her name is Miss Kitt and yes her eyes are two different colors :)
