Are you still disoriented and full of cheese?

Hey folks and friends,

I don't know about you, but the holidays are a very disorienting time for me. I call the days between Christmas through New Years the Void Week - a period of time when I give myself permission to go fully feral and become a shambling little goblin creature, TV remote in one hand and wheel of cheese in the other. It's a sacred time, a time for abandoning the constraints of modern society, like denim, or Zoom meetings, or the Gregorian calendar.

Void Week Sarah doesn't know what day of the week it is. That is an arcane secret, completely beyond her knowledge or comprehension. Void Week Sarah stays in her pajamas all day and is bewildered by bright lights. Void Week Sarah eats donuts for dinner while standing up in the kitchen. Void Week Sarah binges all seven seasons of "The Closer" on Netflix, knitting scarves and hissing at the sun.

A rough-looking taxidermied fox, wrapped in blankets on a couch, surrounded by candy wrappers, soda cans, and cheese. The fox is knitting while The Closer plays on a TV.

But now it's a new year - sunlight is sticking around for a little longer each day, I've gotten back to work projects and my weekly planner, and Void Week Sarah has been sent back to her cave for the next 345-ish days. Regular Sarah is here now!

The same image, but the wheel of cheese has been replaced by a smiling weekly planner.

Regular Sarah (she has a planner)

In all seriousness, I'm excited for the new year and ready to jump back into all of my various projects. Speaking of which ~~

Album Updates

As is the fate of many creative projects, the album is taking a little longer than I originally anticipated. But just because things are moving slowly doesn't mean they aren't still moving forward!

In fact, here's a preview of one of the upcoming tracks: The Nighttime Song

I actually shared a demo version of this song here in newsletter-land almost exactly a year ago, so I think it's really fitting that I'm sharing it again now. The song has a little extra polish, thanks to some really nice recording equipment and a great mix, but it hasn't lost any of the heart of the original demo. I'm really proud of how it turned out and I think you'll enjoy it.

Until next time!
Sarah
